Football vs Music (a note about gig at Bury Met)

Here’s a question that is specifically for people in Bury (UK) but can also be answered by anyone that’s ever had a gig clash with international football (either as audience member or performer).

The Met (the theatre, not the police) are keen to keep tonight’s stage times as advertised whereas I’d like to push things back so that people can watch the England/Sweden match. My plan being for me to do a little solo acoustic show for people who aren’t interested in televised sports, followed by the wonderful Alabaster dePlume. Then the main full-band electric set would “kick off” at 9.40pm after the final whistle and wrap up by 11pm.

What do you think? If there are people out there in Bury who weren’t going to come because of the game (or have friends in that position) then let me know and we can shift things round. Otherwise it’ll just stay the way it’s advertised.

I’m fine either way as I’m more of a croquet man.
